Thin Ice by Irene Hannon A Review

ABOUT THIN ICE

FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor, a former Delta Force operator, is assigned to reopen the case, but he's coming up with more questions than answers. If Ginny Reed is still alive--who is the woman buried in her grave? Where is Ginny? And is Christy a pawn in a twisted cat-and-mouse game--or the target of a sinister plot? As he digs deeper, one thing becomes clear: whoever is behind the bizarre ruse has a deadly agenda.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Irene Hannon is a bestselling, award-winning author who took the publishing world by storm at the tender age of 10 with a sparkling piece of fiction that received national attention.

Okay…maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. But she was one of the honorees in a complete-the-story contest conducted by a national children’s magazine. And she likes to think of that as her “official” fiction-writing debut!

Since then, she has written more than 50 romantic suspense and contemporary romance/women’s fiction novels. She is a seven-time finalist for and three-time winner of the RITA award—the “Oscar” of romance fiction—and a member of the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. Her books have also won a Daphne du Maurier award, two Carol awards, three HOLT Medallions, a National Readers’ Choice award, a Retailers Choice award, two Booksellers’ Best awards and two Reviewers’ Choice awards from RT Book Reviews magazine. One of her novels was also named by Booklist as a top 10 inspirational fiction books of 2011. In addition, she is a two-time Christy award finalist.

Irene, who holds a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in journalism, juggled two careers for many years until she gave up her executive corporate communications position with a Fortune 500 company to write full. She is happy to say she has no regrets!

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening and singing.  A trained vocalist, she has sung the leading role in numerous musicals, including “South Pacific,” “Brigadoon,” “Oklahoma” “The King and I” and “Anything Goes.” She is also a soloist at her church.

When not otherwise occupied, Irene and her husband enjoy traveling, Saturday mornings at their favorite coffee shop and spending time with family. They make their home in Missouri.

MY REVIEW
Thin Ice by Irene Hannon is just an amazing book. It is book two in the Men of Valor series.  In this book Christy is living through so  many horrific events. Her parents die in a car accident, her sister house burns down with her in it, then she gets a note in her sisters handwriting and it is a kidnapping with a picture to prove it. The kidnapper tells her not to go to the police, but Christy goes to the FBI. That is where she meets Lance. She doesn’t want the kidnapper to know she went to the FBI, so they pretend to be good friends.
This book is really spell-binding and I just devoured it. Irene knows how to write books full of suspense. She will keep you reading well into the night. If you don’t read any other book this year, you should read Thin Ice. What an mind-boggling novel.
In Thin Ice Irene Hannon teaches us no matter what happens having Jesus in your life helps in the most trying circumstances. Also tells us to never give up.
The Men of Valor series is about three brothers and Thin Ice focus in on the middle brother, but we hear from the oldest brother Mac who’s story was in book one Buried Secrets. Book three will be about Finn the youngest. I just love Irene Hannon’s books. She is so talented and you won’t regret reading her novels. Highly recommended.

MY REVIEW
Buried Secrets by Irene Hannon is one fantastic suspenseful book. It is full of twists, turns and surprises that will keep you reading way into the night.
I like how one small bit of evidence in a murder case can turn everything around. Even when criminals try to remove all traces of them being there usually it is impossible.
Lisa and Mac meet when they both are assigned to a skeleton that was dug up from over 20 years ago. What can they learn from something that old?
Lisa and Mac both move to a smaller area to get out of the way of big city crime, but it seems to follow them. They also are looking for a chance to settle down to marry someone and start a family. Can they find that with each other?
You also learn about Mac’s two brothers who are in high profile/dangerous jobs. I have a feeling the next books in the series will be about them.
Buried Secrets is full of suspense, action, family and love. You will love this wonderful first book in the series Men of Valor. Highly recommended.

MY REVIEW
I just loved reading Deceived by Irene Hannon. It is a fascinating book that is full of adventure and suspense. From the very first page to the last I was spell bound.
I love the character Kate and the love she had for her family that she lost and the great length she goes to see if what really happened on the fateful day her husband and son died. She is a strong, determined woman.
Also Connor the private investigator is also very unwavering in finding the truth. It is very interesting to find out the many steps they had to take to find out if the mystery child is really her son or not.
Deceived is a very emotional story that will grab you and you will hang on  for the ride.
Find out in this book if Kate finds what she is looking for. What Connor’s personal life was like before and how they work together in one of the most important cases of all.
I highly recommend this wonderful book. Very much a book that you will love to read again and again.

One Perfect Spring by Irene Hannon A REVIEW

ABOUT ONE PERFECT SPRING

Independent single mom Claire Summers is doing her best to make lemonade out of the lemons life has handed her. Workaholic Keith Watson is interested only in the bottom line--until a letter from Claire's eleven-year-old daughter reaches his desk and changes everything.

As the executive assistant to a philanthropic businessman, Keith is used to fielding requests for donations. But the girl isn't asking for money. She wants help finding the long-lost son of a neighbor. As Keith reluctantly digs into this assignment in his usual results-oriented style, he has no idea how involved he and Claire will become--nor how unusual the results will actually be. Who could have guessed that a child's kindhearted request would bring love and hope to so many lives . . . including his own?

Through compelling characters and surprising plot twists, fan favorite Irene Hannon offers this tenderhearted story that demonstrates how life is like lilacs--the biggest blooms come only after the harshest winters.

MY REVIEW
One Perfect Spring by Irene Hannon is an excellent book.
I love how the whole book is centered around a letter written by a little girl. How one letter changed the life of  six people/families.
One Perfect Spring talks about the issues of adoption, single parenting, workaholics, cancer and so many other life topics.
David and Keith are workaholics. David’s wife dies and he sees how much he has lost with always being at work and putting his family second. So he is changing and doesn’t want his employee to go down the same path as he did.
Maureen has cancer and it has made he want to get in touch with the son she gave up for adoption many years ago, but can’t find him. Little Haley takes it upon her self to write to a very wealthy man who helps people.
The outcome of this story is amazing. You will see how lives are changed, people fall in love, hearts start to thaw and people seeing what is really important in life. How God will help and is already working in your life.
Very good book. Highly recommended. A wonderful addition to your library.

Trapped by Irene Hannon A REVIEW

When librarian Laura Griffith's sixteen-year-old sister disappears on a frigid February day, leaving only a brief note behind, Laura resolves to do whatever it takes to track down the runaway teen. That includes recruiting ATF agent turned PI James "Dev" Devlin to help. But the deeper he digs, the more he begins to suspect that something sinister is at work in the girl's disappearance. And the closer he gets to uncovering the truth, the clearer it becomes that the situation isn't just dangerous--it's deadly.

Chilling and at times terrifying, Trapped is the latest thrilling read from Irene Hannon, the queen of romantic suspense. Hannon outdoes herself with this fast-paced tale of fear, deception, and just the right dose of romance.

MY REVIEW
Trapped by Irene Hannon is book two in A Private Justice series.  I really enjoyed this book. It is full of mystery and intrigue which I love in a novel. The characters are very likable and interesting.
The title Trapped and front cover are excellent. They really make the story more alive.  Darcy is my favorite character in Trapped, because she doesn’t give up. She keeps trying to get out of a horrible situation. Darcy also learns lessons that we all need to learn, be happy and thankful with what you have. You could always be in a much worse situation.
Laura is also an interesting person because she doesn’t want to and won’t give up on her sister. She keeps going and is a sweet person whom is only doing what she knows to do.
Dev is someone who cares and tries to find the truth and has many ways to do it.
Mark is the villain and makes a fantastic one. He has been through so much in his life from the beginning, but he lets it control him and he tries to make everyone in his life perfect. He is very interesting also. So this book has many characters who are exciting and fascinating.
I recommend this book and think you will love it because it is so gripping.

MY REVIEW
That Certain Summer by Irene Hannon is a really, really fantastic book. It was a joy to read and I’m so glad I got the chance.
It’s about two sisters who never got along because they always seemed to be competing. After they grew up and were forced to work together and really get to know each other and finally forgive themselves for their pasts do they become real sisters.
This book talks about forgiving ourselves for past mistakes, becoming the person God wants you to be and going forward with our lives.
The characters in That Certain Summer are very strong, likable and compelling. You will come to love them and their family and friends.
This book is about four main characters, the sisters Karen and Val and two men Scott and David.  Very interesting how their lives connect and become intertwined. I highly recommend this book and I will be giving it a 5-star rating.

Book Review-Lethal Legacy by Irene Hannon

ABOUT LETHAL LEGACY
Guardians of Justice (Book 3)
The police say her father's death was suicide. But Kelly Warren says it was murder--and she has new evidence that she believes proves it. Detective Cole Taylor doesn't put much credence in her claim, and nothing in his case review suggests foul play. But when Kelly ends up in the emergency room with a suspicious life-threatening medical condition, the incident strikes him as more than just coincidence. Digging deeper, he discovers she's linked to a long-ago crime. Is history repeating itself? And who wants Kelly silenced?

With her trademark high-intensity action and taut suspense, Irene Hannon closes out her Guardians of Justice series with a story of old grudges and budding romance that is sure to increase her substantial fan base.

MY REVIEW
Another fantastic book by Irene Hannon. I love this series-Guardians of Justice and this is book 3 the final. Each of these books talks about one family, two sons and one daughter and how they all are in the Justice system.
This book Lethal Legacy is about the youngest son Cole and how he meets Kelly and they together solve the mystery surrounding her father’s death. The police believe it is suicide, but Kelly doesn’t believe it.
Lethal Legacy has so many different twists and turns it will keep you reading well into the night and you’ll want to finish it in one reading.
I love mysteries, my favorite kind of read and this one didn’t disappoint.
Also this book is a very tender love story.  Kelly and Cole being older never expect to find the right one, but God has other plans. Kelly is really close to the Lord; Cole doesn’t want anything to do with God, because of a case that went really wrong years ago.
Find out how this mystery is solved in the case of Kelly’s dad {you will be really surprised at the outcome} and how they relationship evolves.
I highly recommend Lethal Legacy and the whole series, but if you can only read one of the books it is also a great stand alone novel.

Irene Hannon-author interview and GIVEAWAY

Today I'm interviewing Irene Hannon and featuring  her newest book Deadly Pursuit. Fantastic Book!
Irene, thanks for taking the time to visit us today! I appreciate you answering these few questions. It will be fun to get to know you better.

How long did you write before you were published?
I can’t remember ever not writing. I think people are born writers. But in terms of book-length fiction, I was writing for about five or six years before I made my first sale.

Tell us about Deadly Pursuit, the featured book.
Here’s the blurb from the back cover: Social worker Alison Taylor has a passion for protecting children. But now it seems she needs protecting. When her tormentor’s attentions take a violent turn, she calls in reinforcements—her police-detective brother, Cole, and his new partner, ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Morgan. As her relentless stalker turns up the heat and the danger intensifies, Mitch takes a personal interest in the case. Because protecting Alison has become more than a job; his future depends on keeping her safe.

Is there any person who has been a strong influence in your writing journey?
My freshman English teacher in high school, who instilled in me a passion for the power and possibilities of words. Book 1 in this series, Fatal Judgment, is dedicated to her,

What message do you want to be clear to your readers?
As with every book I write, I want to leave readers uplifted, hope-filled, and with a renewed understanding of the power of love to transform lives. In addition, in Deadly Pursuit I deal with the issue of personal responsibility and how all of us are accountable for the decisions we make.

What are some of your likes and dislikes? Your hobbies, interests? Where do you like to vacation?
I love my family, singing, chocolate pastries, long walks, Saturday mornings with my husband at our favorite coffee shop, travel…too many things to list! I love to go anywhere on vacation—but over and over, I seem to be drawn to the seashore.

Tell us a little-known fact about yourself that readers may not know.
I love to perform in community musical theater productions and have had the great good fortune to play the leading role in some classic musicals, including The King and I, Brigadoon, Oklahoma, South Pacific and Anything Goes, to name a few.

How do you spend your writing days? Do you set goals to reach a certain number of words per day? Can you give us a general idea of how long it takes you to write a novel?
I’m at my desk from about 8:30 in the morning until I’m done for the day. If all goes well, I meet my page count by 5 p.m. (minimum of 5 good pages, preferably more). Then, after dinner, I take care of any business-related tasks that I didn’t get to during the day. For example, it’s 9:30 in the evening as I work on this interview. And I have more to deal with when I finish this. Because I write for two publishers, I allow about nine months between books for each; so in nine months, I write two books.

What are you currently reading?
I just finished Winter’s End by Ruth Logan Herne. One of my contemporary romance novels (A Father for Zach) is up against this debut book for the Carol Award from American Christian Fiction Writers, and I have to say I’m very impressed by her work!

Do you grow flowers or vegetables? What are your favorite flowers?
Flowers…always flowers! To paraphrase Will Rogers, I’ve never met a flower I didn’t like!

What are you writing now?
I’ve finished Book 3 in the Guardians of Justice series, Lethal Legacy, so I’ve moved on to my next romantic suspense series, which will feature three former law enforcement operatives who’ve joined forces to form a PI firm.

How can readers find you on the Internet?
I’m at www.irenehannon.com. You can also find a link on my site that will allow you to become a Twitter follower. Please do!

And thanks for spending this time with us, Irene.
We wish you much success.

MY REVIEW

This is an amazing book. Deadly Pursuit is book 2 in the Guardians of Justice series, but is a very good stand alone book. This series is about two brothers and a sister. Book 1 Fatal Judgment was about the older brother and this book is mainly about Alison the sister.

Deadly Pursuit has lots of action, adventure and suspense, and throw in a sweet love story and you have a winner.

Alison has been through a lot in her life, but remains close to the Lord. Mitch who is an ex-Navy SEAL, but now a police-detective works with Alison’s younger brother. Mitch stays away from God, because he has seen so much death and destruction.

This book has 24 chapters and each one is full of action and keeps you wanting to read just one more chapter, but when I got to chapter 17 it was such fast-paced action I couldn’t stop reading. The last 7 chapters just had one thing after another happening. So very exciting and interesting. I just didn’t know if Alison would die or if someone would save her. It looked like she has no way out. It is an amazing story right up to the last paragraph.

I recommend this book for a wonderful, suspenseful, romantic read. Deadly Pursuit is a keeper and I’m so glad I got to read it. This book is a 5-star book in my view. I just couldn’t put it down.

Readers this is another book to put in your TBR pile very close to the top.

Fatal Judgment by Irene Hannon A Review

ABOUT FATAL JUDGMENT
Fatal Judgment: By Irene Hannon
Guardians of Justice Series Book 1

U.S. Marshal Jake Taylor has seen plenty of action during his years in law enforcement. But he'd rather go back to Iraq than face his next assignment: protection detail for federal judge Liz Michaels. As the danger mounts and Jake gets to know Liz better, he's forced to revise his opinion of her. And when it becomes clear that an unknown enemy may want her dead, the stakes are raised. Because now both her life--and his heart--are in danger.
Full of suspense and romance, Fatal Judgment is a thrilling story that will keep you turning the pages late into the night.

MY REVIEW
In Fatal Judgment Jake Taylor, a U.S. Marshal, has a new assignment, to protect federal judge Liz Michaels. She is the widow of his college best friend. When Liz's sister is murdered at Liz's house, the police think Liz may have been the one the killer was after. Jake hates the thought of having to protect Liz because of his friend's description of her cold heartlessness and putting her career higher than all else. Liz amazes Jake by being friendly and considerate, the total reverse of what he expected.
This is the second book I’ve read by Irene Hannon and loved it as much as the first. Every part of the book is full of exciting, heart stopping events, but the last half is just so gripping that you just don’t want to quit reading. Fatal Judgment is about how sometimes when bad things keep happening to a person some people just can’t go on in a normal way. The reason why is because they don’t trust God to see them through. Fatal Judgment is a book you will want to read and keep.
If you love books that have compelling characters, faced -paced, roller-coaster chapters, this book is defiantly for you. The suspense of Fatal Judgment will keep you on the edge of your seat. Can’t wait for the next books in the Guardians of Justice series.

Available April 2010; $14.99

About the Book:

In Harm’s Way is the final book of the series, where FBI special agent Nick Bradley is confronted by Rachel Sutton: Nick has seen his share of kooks during his fifteen years with the Bureau. But Rachel is an enigma. She seems normal when she shows up at the FBI office in St. Louis--until she produces a tattered Raggedy Ann doll she found and tells him she thinks something is wrong because of a strange feeling of terror it gives her when she touches it. Nick dismisses her, only to stumble across a link between the doll and an abducted child, setting in motion a chain of events that uncovers startling connections—and puts Rachel's life on the line

My Review:

The first two books are An Eye for an Eye and Against all Odds. This third book of the series In Harms Way is a wonderful conclusion. It is super to read all three books in order, but each is a stand-alone book that is exciting in itself.
Nick is an FBI agent and a strong Christian. Rachel is a music teacher/artist, but isn't very close to the Lord. Both have been in the foster care system.
This book is very suspenseful with a very sweet romantic thread. In Harms Way keeps you very interested and you won't want to put it down. Also in this book it talks about twin telepathy, kidnapping, metal illness.
In Harms Way shows us how we react to anything can change our world. Rachel finding the Raggedy Ann doll, if she would have left it in the snow, or not taken it to the FBI nothing would have turned out.
This book is now one of my favorites and I highly recommend your buying it and adding it to your collection. I give it a 5 plus star rating.
Also the Epilogue was so sweet. It tells of an exciting, tender proposal.
Here is a quote from the book that I really like and it sums up the book-“A coincidence is a small miracle in which God chooses to remain anonymous."
