Sarah by Sharlene MacLaren- A Review

ABOUT SARAH
Sarah Woodward has come to Kentucky as a mail–order bride. But when she steps off the stage coach, the man who contacted her through the Marriage Made in Heaven Agency informs her that he has fallen in love with and wed another woman. Sarah is disappointed, but she feels that God led her to Little Hickman Creek for a reason. With her usual stubborn determination, she refuses to leave until she finds out what that reason is. Rocky Callahan's sister has died, leaving him with two young children to take care of. When he meets the fiery Sarah Woodward, he proposes the answer to both their problems—a marriage in name only. Sarah soon comes to love the children, but Rocky is afraid that she'll never survive as a farmer's wife with her privileged upbringing. Can he let go of the pain in his past and trust God's plan for his life? Will she leave him or will they actually find a marriage made
in heaven?

MY REVIEW
Sarah by Sharlene MacLaren is book two in the Little Hickman Creek series. I read and reviewed book one a while back. Here is my review link if you would like to read that one. The title is Loving Liza Jane. http://thelifeandtimesofwanda.blogspot.com/2011/01/loving-liza-jane-by-sharlene-maclarena.html
The book Sarah is about a very strong, independent woman who is so close to the Lord. She came to Little Hickman Creek as a mail-order bride. She’s a very wealthy woman, but doesn’t want to continue living where she was born. She feels God has a reason for her to be a mail-order bride. The man she was suppose to marry fell in love with another woman and sent a message for Sarah not to come. Of course she didn’t get the message. Sarah continues to feel God has her here for something. Then Sarah sees two children whom their Uncle is taking care of and he doesn’t  seem to love them. That gets to Sarah and she helps them out anyway she can. So starts the way Sarah and Rocky meet and begin their lives.
A very, very good book that I loved reading.  It is full of love, romance and family with sickness, tragedy and blessings. I highly recommend Sarah book two in the Little Hickman series.

The Living Room by Robert Whitlow*A Review

ABOUT THE LIVING ROOM
The Living Room By Robert Whitlow

Amy Clarke’s dreams are coming true—and that’s the problem.

Legal secretary by day, romance novelist by night, Amy Clarke lives with a precious secret. For years, she has traveled to a holy place in her dreams—a sublime place she calls the Living Room. When she awakes, her faith and energy are supernaturally restored. And when she dreams, she receives vibrant inspiration for her novels.

As she begins to write her third book, the nature of her dreams shifts. Gone are the literary signposts. Instead, her dreams are studded with scenes that foreshadow real life. Before long, the scenes begin to spill over into her waking hours too.

As Amy becomes entangled in a high stakes case at work, her visions take on a dark hue—implicating someone dear to her, causing her to question everything. And convincing her to trust someone with his own shadowy secrets.

Things are not always what they seem. But as fiction, dreams, and real life begin to overlap, Amy must stop dreaming and act to prevent tragedy.

A practicing attorney, he is a partner in a Charlotte, NC law firm. He and his wife Kathy have four children and three grandchildren.
Robert began writing in 1996. His novels are set in the South and include both legal suspense and interesting characterization. It is his desire to write stories that reveal some of the ways God interacts with people in realistic scenerios.

MY REVIEW
The Living Room by Robert Whitlow is full of suspense and intrigue. I really loved reading this book. Robert Whitlow really knows how to keep you interested to the last page.
Amy Clarke has been having dreams where she feels the Lord’s presence, but now her dreams are becoming real life events. If she doesn’t tell others about her dreams something serious will happen to them. Does she risk being called strange to reveal her dreams?
I like a book where the characters are really close to God and consult him about all things.
Amy is a writer, works as a legal secretary and wife and mother. Which keeps her extremely busy. Now she has to tell others about her dreams.
I really recommend this book. It will keep you interested all of the way through. Many suspenseful events.

MY REVIEW
The Time Under Heaven by Laurinda Wallace is a very good book. This is the first time I’ve read any books by Laurinda and I’m glad she found me.
The time Under Heaven is a story about three sisters who are so very different from each other. They only corresponded at Christmas and hardly stay in touch.
After Ruthanne finds out she has a very serious health problem and is forced to go home does the sisters start becoming friends again and they learn about each other and in the process they learn about themselves.
The sisters and a close friend of Ruthanne’s are very likable characters and have very different lives. I like how they become good friends again and try to help each other out.
The things I didn’t care for in the book is so many things seemed like they were left up in the air. Like there should be another book to answer some of the questions I have. I wasn’t really pleased with the ending, because I thought it should be different and more upbeat. I didn’t think the daughter would have changed that quickly and we didn’t find out why she was so cold toward Ruthanne. I don’t want to say to much about the ending and give it away, but I wasn’t overly pleased with it.
Still I recommend you to read this book. It has very many interesting parts and full of love and compassion. A very easy read.

MY REVIEW
Angels in the Fire by Dann Stadler is a very, very good book. It is a true story that is full of tragedy, pain, sadness, but more than those things this book is full of peace, love, hope and pure excitement. I’m so very glad I got the chance to read this book. It is a must read for everyone.
I love to read about people’s death experiences and how God helps them with angels. Things like this may happen to all of us, but we just don’t realize that it is an angel that kept us away from being harmed or worse.
I love to read when someone has a tragedy in their lives and how they keep on fighting and won’t give up, won’t let the devil get in the last word.
Tracey doesn’t only see an angel and go to Heaven, but during her life she sees many angels and is helped to escape many things. Angels are all around us and help us always, but Tracey can see them.
Reading Angels in the Fire really is an encouragement to me and will be to anyone who reads it, because even though we believe angels are all around reading this book just makes it so much more real. Reading Angels in the Fire makes you so excited about Heaven.
Angels in the fire tells of Dann and Tracey’s struggles after the car accident and the many things they had to go through. I was amazed at how sweet and loving their attitudes remained and how long it took for them to heal.
This book as I said before is a must read and I highly recommend it.  This is one of my favorite books of 2013.

Threads of Love by Andrea Boeshaar A REVIEW

ABOUT THREADS OF LOVE
Emily Sundberg considers herself a proper young lady of the twentieth century. But a decade ago she behaved more like a tomboy. So when the neighbor’s grandson came to visit one summer when she was thirteen, they became fast friends. Emily even got her first kiss—quite by accident.

Unfortunately Jake Edgerton told all the boys something else. Rumors circulated, and Emily caved from embarrassment and guilt. Meanwhile Jake returned home to Fallon, Montana and she never saw or heard from him again.

Over the years Emily has worked hard to prove to her peers and the people of Manitowoc, Wisconsin that, despite past mistakes, she is an upstanding young woman, one worthy of being a schoolteacher—and possibly Andy Anderson's wife. But even with the passing of time, Emily has never forgotten Jake and how he nearly ruined her life…

And now he's a US deputy marshal and he’s back in town!

MY REVIEW
Threads of Love by Andrea Boeshaar is just a wonderful, beautiful story that I enjoyed so much. It was hard to put this book down and it ended to soon.
I love the characters, scenes and the cover of the book is stunning. I even love the title.  I like how the title was explained in the book.
This was truly a sweet and uplifting love story Emily hasn’t seen Jake for ten years, but he runs into her literally. She tries to stay away from him because he hurt her many years ago, but she doesn’t know the real reason he was so distant.
Many things come to light in this intriguing book. Many things are made right and the ending was just to good to be true.
I enjoyed the book even though this is book three of the Fabric of Time series. I didn’t have any trouble understanding the characters and what was going on in their lives even though I didn’t get the chance to read the first two books.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin so this author has always been special to me because the stories I’ve read of hers are always set in Wisconsin.
If you love romance stories that are full of the love and praise of Jesus you will need to read Andrea Boeshaar’s book. I highly recommend this series.

Dark Rule by D.I. Telbat A REVIEW

ABOUT DARK RULE
The COIL Series adventure continues in Dark Rule, Book Three by D.I. Telbat, taking the reader from the South Pacific to the Greek Isles—from the depths of the ocean to the cone of an unstable volcano.

Nathan Isaacson—presumed dead by fellow agents but is now trained by master spy, Luigi Putelli—begins his solo spy career under ex-CIA agent Corban Dowler. When Corban loses contact with a beautiful Chinese agent, he sends Nathan to the South Pacific to locate her.

As Nathan infiltrates the underwater exploration team of a dark foe, Trevor Niles—who is bent on ruling at the expense of the lives of separatist Christians—it proves to be a spy game that tests Nathan's every spiritual and physical muscle.

Two years later, darkness has settled over the Island of Zalzuna in the Greek Isles, when the volcanic island under communist rule is ready to erupt. Nathan is sent to the island to gain intel on missing missionaries, but the light of captive Christians may be no more.

Heather Kooper and her team of Special Forces Christians are called in to assist in a possible rescue attempt, joining two adventurous teenagers—Walter, a chess prodigy, and Brad, a Major League hopeful. Following the trail of the missing Jamison family, the team unearths a dark scheme. COIL operative Nathan Isaacson prays he can save them from the outreached claws about to ensnare them all—even if it costs him his life!

Dark Rule, Book Three in the COIL Series, is a 98,000-word Christian adventure, with cover art by Sean Johnson. Join COIL once again as their light continues to shine in the dark recesses of the world, but there is no redemption without sacrifice…

David studied writing in college, and worked in the newspaper field, but now he is doing what he loves: writing and ministry. He is involved with several ministries, which includes writing and directing Christian plays. When not busy with ministry, he focuses on writing novels, short stories, blog posts, and prison ministry newsletters.

He has kept his home office in the Northwest U.S. where his assistant, Dee, lives and helps with his writing and editing needs.

There is no redemption without sacrifice.

MY REVIEW
I just love the COIL series. So Dark Rule, Book Three by D.I. Telbat is just another fantastic book. I love to hear how the agents fight against the powers of evil and satan. They do it without killing any one and they always give the evil people a chance to do right and join the Lord’s side.
After book two I wondered if we would hear anymore from Nathan. His fellow agents and friends thought he died. Now Nathan works along. In Dark Rule it is divided into two parts with a span of two years between them. I really liked how the stories were different but were pulled together by a common thread.
In the different cases these guys go on, when they get into a very tight spot I just don’t see any way out, but D.I. Telbat finds a way and it is very exciting and interesting at how they always work out.
These stories are very full of action, adventure and suspense. I could read D.I. Telbat’s books in one sitting, but then the book would end to soon. I’m really looking forward to book four.
If you love suspenseful, action-packed books these books are for you. I highly recommend the COIL series and Dark Rule is an excellent read.

MY REVIEW
The Runner by A. Wayne Gill is a very, very well written story that I enjoyed immensely. I was sad to come to the last page.
I have been finding some fantastic authors that are new to me and so very pleased to read their writings.
Really glad that the Michael Knight story is a seven-part series and I do hope the author will send me the rest of the books in this series.
The characters are very likable and believable. It nice to see a story about a Christian family that loves each other even though they aren’t perfect. Also when they make a mistake they are willing to admit it and move on with their lives.
The Runner has taught me that even when we run from God or our lives, families etc.. God is willing to push us back to where He wants us and where we will be the happiest. I love how the family is so loving and forgiving.
The Runner is full of suspense and intrigue and you won’t be able to put it down. It’s a very easy book to read and full of suspense, love, forgiveness and faith.
I highly recommend The Runner and can’t wait for book 2. Thanks for a wonderful book A. Wayne Gill.

MY REVIEW
Renegade by mel Odom is book two in the series Called to Serve. I didn’t get to read book one and would have liked to. It really would have made the reading experience richer.
I enjoyed Renegade and how it showed that war is not a game or something that is just part of life. War is really about death and evil, but sometimes you have to fight to rid the world of evil.
If you don’t like war stories or hear about a lot of death then you shouldn’t read this book. I myself usually don’t read about wars, but this one was unique. It shows how some people are driven by their past and how life isn’t always neat and orderly.
Renegade is a modern day war story that is really accurate.
I recommend this book for all that love to read about war and things that happen. It is quite an interesting book.

When she’s not weaving Appalachian romance, she’s blogging about faith, writing, and the adventures of country living that bring her stories to life. Be Still My Soul is her first novel.

MY REVIEW
This is the first book I’ve read by Joanne Bischof and I love, love, love it. Even though it is book two in The Cadence of Grace series it still can be read as a stand alone. Book one is called Be Still My Soul and I now really want to read it.
The characters are well described and very likable or not likable which ever is the cause. The scenery and places are very defined and easy to see yourself there.
Reading this book I really want Gideon to do one thing, but don’t know if that is possible. I don’t want to give away the story, but I really want Gideon to be able to live with the woman he truly loves. Now I can’t wait for book three and the conclusion of this series.
Joanne Bischof is now a new favorite author of mine. She knows how to tell a story that really grips you and keeps you wanting more. Her book Though My Heart is Torn is full of love, compassion and life.
I highly recommend this book and anything by Joanne Bischof and will be giving this book five stars. Wish I could do more.
