Born and raised in west Michigan, Sharlene MacLaren attended Spring Arbor University.
Upon graduating with an education degree, she married one of her childhood friends.
Together they raised two lovely daughters. Now happily retired after teaching elementary school for thirty-five years, Shar enjoys reading, writing, singing in the church choir
and worship teams, traveling, and spending time with her husband, children, and precious grandchildren.
Shar is a regular speaker for her local MOPS organization, is involved in KIDS HOPE USA, a mentoring program for at-risk children, counsels young women in the Apples of Gold program, and is active in two weekly Bible studies. She and her husband, Cecil, live in Spring Lake, Michigan, with their beautiful white collie, Peyton.
Courting Emma is book three in the Little Hickman Creek Series by Sharlene MacLaren. I really did enjoy this book. It was full of very nice surprises, twists and turns. I was intrigued by how Emma and the Pastor Jonathan became friends and how they see each other. I was also really involved in finding out what happened between Emma and her father. Also finding out Emma’s fathers background was an eye opener.
The love story between Emma and Jonathan was very sweet and enduring. Not really what I expected.
This story shows us how hard it is to forgive some people in our lives and also to think we aren’t worthy of God’s love. Many life lessons to be learned in Courting Emma.
It is sad, happy, exciting, full of suspense and loads of fun that can be found in this book. I highly recommend this series Little Hickman Creek and this wonderful book of Courting Emma.
