Spring Thaw by Tammy Fish A Review

ABOUT SPRING THAW

When an unforeseen accident tramples her dreams, Selena trudges through a desert of loneliness caring for an invalid husband. Finding herself a widow at twenty-eight, she grasps at the chance to experience a new life. Answering an advertisement for a marriage of convenience, she agrees to the platonic arrangement in order to care for the man’s young son. Leaving her home in Illinois, she travels by train to Oregon to discover a very different world from the one she left behind. Mesmerized by the beauty of this new land, she finds faith and fulfillment, but she never expects to find love.

Dirk lost his wife long before his son’s birth. Bitterness and pain solidified his emotions like the snowpack on Mt. Hood. He needs a mother for his son, but nothing more, so he places his request: No pictures necessary, references only. Selena agrees to the arrangement, but her heart interferes. Will Selena’s patient endurance be enough to melt her husband’s frozen heart?

Christian, wife, mother, grandmother. Born in Rhode Island, I've had the privilege of living on both beautiful coasts. Dramatically different each location resonates  the beauty of the Creator.  Like my excursion moving across the nation, life itself is a journey. One that twists and turns along the way with mountains of triumph and valleys of despair, but throughout  the process I find the Lord ever present, going before me and lighting my way. Praise be to Him.

  MY REVIEW
Spring Thaw by Tammy Fish is just a wonderful, exciting story. It’s not the same old stories you read about mail order brides. It is an uniquely different kind of story.
This is the first book I’ve read of Tammy Fish and I must say it is fantastic. I would love to see this book become a series.
Dirk’s first wife left him and their son. Selena’s husband was in a horrible accident and never was himself again. After both of their mates died Dirk wants a mother for his young son, but not a real marriage.
Dirk and Selena both want a marriage so they can raise his son, but nothing more. They have both been hurt and just don’t know if they can ever trust another person again.
Follow these two as they go through many trials and seasons. Will they find out about trust and love that only comes from God and will they find the love for each other that they really  need?
I truly did enjoy this book. So glad I read it. I highly recommend this book Spring Thaw. Excellent!

MY REVIEW
Caged No More is inspired by real events. This DVD is well put together. It shows how somWord e parents when they don’t have any other way out of their money troubles will go as far as selling their children.
The actors and actresses are Loretta Devine, Kevin Sorbo, Alan Powell and Cassidy Gifford.
It’s really sad to see that these poor sweet girls get locked in a room and live a life of pure terror day after day. There isn’t any escaping unless they die.
In Caged No More the story is about two sisters. One who already was sold and one that is close to being sold into the sex trade.
The DVD shows how people fight for these girls to get them out, but also how some never make it out. A grandmother, the girls Uncle and his son are some that fight this fight. They have to go through a lot and see a lot.
The movie Caged No More ends good, but it is still sad because you know that this will continue to go on for many others.
This is an excellent movie, but it isn’t for younger children. Some scenes will be upsetting, but things like this have to be brought to our attention.
Highly recommend.

Defined by readers and reviewers as a "wise teacher," "gentleman adventurer," "consummate writer," and "Renaissance man," his work in business took him to over 40 countries around the world, and his books have sold more than seven million copies in sixteen languages.

MY REVIEW
Unlimited is a truly interesting novel. I’ve read many of Davis Bunn’s books and find them all very well written. Unlimited is even more so.
From the first page to the last you will be on a rollercoaster of adventure, danger and intrigue. I found this book truly fascinating.
As soon as Simon crosses the border his life takes a very bad turn. One bad thing after another keeps happening to him. He escapes death many, many times.
God brings Simon to a worker from an orphanage and they help him and they know about the professor who Simon worked with.
You will discover in this book that not everyone who seems bad is bad and not everyone who seems good is good. You have to watch out for the wolves in sheep’s clothing. Also the drug cartel will go to any lengths to get what they want. They only care about money and their drugs.
Simon has made many mistakes in his life and wants to make up for them and start over. Find out if he gets a chance to do something for someone that doesn’t help himself and will he be drawn to the Lord by the people at the orphanage.
Very, very good novel. Truly enjoyed reading it. Highly recommended.

Hope Heals by Katherine and Jay Wolf A Review

 Hope Heals
A True Story of Overwhelming Loss and an Overcoming Love

by Katherine Wolf, Jay Wolf

When all seems lost, where can hope be found?

Katherine and Jay married right after college and sought adventure far from home in Los Angeles, CA. As they pursued their dreams, they planted their lives in the city and in their church community. Their son, James, came along unexpectedly in the fall of 2007, and just 6 months later, everything changed in a moment for this young family.

On April 21, 2008, as James slept in the other room, Katherine collapsed, suffering a massive brain stem stroke without warning. Miraculously, Jay came home in time and called for help. Katherine was immediately rushed into micro-brain surgery, though her chance of survival was slim. As the sun rose the next morning, the surgeon proclaimed that Katherine had survived the removal of part of her brain, though her future recovery was completely uncertain. Yet in that moment, there was a spark of hope. Through 40 days on life support in the ICU and nearly 2 years in full-time brain rehab, that spark of hope was fanned into flame.

Defying every prognosis, with grit and grace, Katherine and Jay, side by side, struggled to regain a life for Katherine as she re-learned to talk and eat and walk. Returning home with a severely disabled body but a completely renewed purpose, they committed to celebrate this gift of a second chance by embracing life fully, even though that life looked very different than they could have ever imagined. In the midst of continuing hardships and struggles, both in body and mind, Katherine and Jay found what we all long to find...hope, hope that heals the most broken place, our souls.

An excruciating yet beautiful road to recovery has led the Wolf family to their new normal, in which almost every moment of life is marked with the scars of that fateful April day in 2008. Now, eight years later, Katherine and Jay are stewarding their story of suffering, restoration, and Christ-centered hope in this broken world through their ministry Hope Heals.

MY REVIEW
This is a amazing true story of a woman’s fight and struggle after suffering a massive brain stem stroke without warning. It is also the story of her husband how he stayed with her and never left her side.
Katherine and Jay were very young and in love. They just had their first child. He was only 6 months old when the stroke hit Katherine. She was on life support in ICU for 40 days and 2 years in full-time brain rehab. Eight years later they wrote this book and have a ministry called Hope Heals.
If you love stories that show courage  and hope again all kinds of odds you will love this book. So many things Katherine has to endure and overcome. Also Jay is an remarkable husband. So many husbands/wives leave their spouses when a major illness/disease comes to them. He really stuck with her.
The ending is just miraculous. I highly recommend this true story. Very uplifting and positive.

MY REVIEW
Another riveting adventure with Jack, Elizabeth and all of their friends. You will even meet some new characters, or characters you have briefly met in past episodes.
Love abounds, but so does action, adventure, hope and terror. It doesn’t matter what kind of show you like Heart of a Hero has it all.
My favorite part of this episode is when the little boy Abigail is taking care of wants to be loved and how he goes about it. It is a very touching scene.
Abigail and Frank have a long way to go in their relationship, but they don’t give up.
Jack and Elizabeth are always sweet together and seem to be getting along very well.
If you have never seen the series When Calls the Heart {Can’t believe there is anyone who hasn’t} you will just love it. So much adventure and tenderness. Highly recommended.
